TAP is developing a series of upgrades to modernize the fare payment system with more ways to pay and new time-saving features.
Starting early 2026:
- In addition to using a TAP card, Full Fare riders will also be able to pay with a credit or debit card on any of the 27 TAP transit agencies while still benefiting from the following TAP features:
- All rides paid with the same card count toward a One-Day and 7-Day fare cap (Metro only)
- Receive two hours of free transfers (Metro only)
Starting in early 2027:
- Reduced Fare riders will be able to add their credit or debit card to their TAP account and use it to pay a reduced fare.
- All rides paid with the same card count toward a One-Day and 7-Day fare cap (Metro only)
- Receive two hours of free transfers (Metro only)
- Load fare (including LIFE discounted fares) to your TAP card automatically on a recurring basis (monthly, weekly, etc.)
- Transfer fare between TAP cards on taptogo.net
- Purchase event tickets that include transit fare
TAP is hosting a public virtual meeting, TAP Plus Community Engagement Meeting, on Tuesday, June 18 from 9am-10am to share the proposed updates and gather feedback.
