Do I qualify for a reduced fare?
Many TAP participating transit systems offer reduced fares for Seniors, Persons with Disabilities, College/Vocational Students, and K-12 Students.
And the best part is, your TAP card knows whether or not you qualify for a reduced fare on each individual TAP system, and will deduct the correct amount! If your local agency doesn't offer reduced fares, regular fare will be deducted.

TAP for Seniors
1. Please be prepared to provide the following:
- Headshot photo (full face, no hats or sunglasses)
If submitting by mail, attach a 2” × 2” or 1 ”× 1¼” print. If submitting online, upload a JPG image (minimum 250px × 320px). - Copy of photo ID
(e.g. CA ID card, CA driver’s license, passport, Medicare ID card or birth certificate accompanied by photo ID) (JPG, PDF, GIF formats accepted)
2. Complete the application online or download the printable application and mail.
TAP for Persons with Disabilities
1. Please be prepared to provide the following:
- Headshot photo (full face, no hats or sunglasses)
If submitting by mail, attach a 2" × 2" or 1” × 1¼" print. If submitting online, upload a JPG image (minimum 250px × 320px). - Copy of photo ID
CA driver’s license or CA ID card, and documents proving eligibility in Section III for all applicants except those with qualifying medical disabilities. (JPG, PDF, GIF formats accepted)

TAP for College/Vocational Students
1. Please be prepared to provide the following:
- Headshot photo (full face, no hats or sunglasses)
If submitting by mail, attach a 2” × 2” or 1” × 1¼” print. If submitting online, upload a JPG image (minimum 250px × 320px). - Copy of photo ID
(e.g.: CA driver’s license, CA ID card, school photo ID or passport) (JPG, PDF, GIF formats accepted) - Supporting Documents
e.g. Class schedule indicating your name, school and total units enrolled.
2. Complete the application online or download the printable application and mail.
TAP for K-12 Students
1. Please be prepared to provide one of the following: (JPG, PDF, GIF formats accepted)
- Copy of current report card.
- Copy of current school ID
- Computer printout showing enrollment units and/or in-class schedule
- Letter on a school letterhead with original signature of school official
