Add your GoPass TAP Card to your Phone

Download the TAP app and enjoy the convenience of using your phone to tap and ride.

Before you add your GoPass TAP card to your phone, you must complete the GoPass program enrollment. Then follow the instructions to download the TAP app and add your card to your phone. Begin by selecting the link that best describes you.

I have a TAP account on taptogo.net

Students Who Have a TAP Account

  1. Download the TAP LA app.   App Store (iPhone)   Play Store (Android)
  2. Open the app and log in to your TAP account.
  3. If you have already have a virtual TAP card, go to the Cards section of the app and select it. Then go to step 6.
  4. If you wish to add a new virtual card, press    (“add card” icon) and choose “Add a TAP Card to Apple Wallet” (iPhone) or “Add a TAP Card to my Phone” (Android).
  5. Give your virtual TAP card a nickname and press “Continue.”
  6. To redeem your Eligibility Code, press “Redeem Code” and enter your Eligibility Code.
  7. Your GoPass will be added to the Cart (price is $0).
  8. Press Purchase to complete your transaction. Your GoPass will be available immediately for use.
I do not have a TAP account on taptogo.net

Students Who Do Not Have a TAP Account

  1. Download the TAP LA app.   App Store (iPhone)   Play Store (Android)
  2. Create a TAP account.
    • Open the TAP app.
    • Press Create an Account and fill the form with your information.
    • Log in to your TAP account.
  3. Add a TAP card to your account.
    • To add a new virtual card, press    (“add card” icon) and choose “Add a TAP Card to Apple Wallet” (iPhone) or “Add a TAP Card to my Phone” (Android).
    • To add the plastic TAP card issued by your school to your phone, press (“Add card icon”), choose “Register a TAP Card” enter the card information.
    • Once your card has been added to your account, press “Transfer Card to Apple Wallet” (iOS) or “Transfer Card to Phone” (Android).
    • Read the guidelines and follow the steps to complete the card transfer.
  4. To redeem your Eligibility Code, in the Cards section press “Redeem Code” and enter your Eligibility Code.
  5. Your GoPass will be added to the Cart (price is $0).
  6. Press Purchase to complete your transaction. Your GoPass will be available immediately for use.
I am a K-12 student with a Student Reduced Fare (orange) card

K-12 Students With a Reduced Fare (Orange) Card

  1. Download the TAP LA app.   App Store (iPhone)   Play Store (Android)
  2. As a Reduced Fare card holder, your TAP account has already been created and your TAP card has been registered to your account. To log in, click “Reset Password” and enter the email address associated with your Reduced Fare application. You’ll receive an email with instructions to reset your password.
  3. Go to the Cards section of the app and select your Reduced Fare TAP card.
  4. Transfer your card to your Phone/Apple Wallet
    • Press “Transfer Card to Apple Wallet” (iOS) or “Transfer Card to Phone” (Android).
    • Read the guidelines and follow the instructions to complete the card transfer.
    • After the transfer is complete:
      • use your phone to tap when you board a bus or train.
      • learn more about the app in the TAP App FAQs.
      • NOTE: iPhone users may also access their card directly in Apple Wallet.
  5. To redeem your Eligibility Code, press “Redeem Code” and enter your Eligibility Code.
  6. Your GoPass will be added to the Cart (price is $0).
  7. Press Purchase to complete your transaction. Your GoPass will be available immediately for use.
